Bill de Blasio drops out of House race, says he’s done with electoral politics
Previous New York City Mayor Monthly bill de Blasio declared Tuesday he’s leaving electoral politics as he dropped out of a race for Congress.
“I’ve listened genuinely very carefully to people and it is apparent to me that when it arrives to this congressional district, people today are searching for another possibility and I respect that,” de Blasio reported in a video clip message posted to Twitter.
“And I just want to say I like the men and women of this town. I actually want to hold serving and I’m heading to come across a distinct way to serve,” he added.
De Blasio declared his candidacy in New York’s 10th Congressional District in late May after the state’s political scene was upended by a freshly drawn map. The district spans from lessen Manhattan to Brooklyn, including de Blasio’s community of Park Slope.
Far more than a dozen Democrats are operating for the seat, like Rep. Mondaire Jones, Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, Assemblywoman Yuh-line Niou and former Trump impeachment prosecutor Dan Goldman.
