How DeSantis and Florida Republicans are reshaping higher education

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and conservative state lawmakers are recurrent critics of Florida’s larger schooling procedure. They say universities are presenting degrees in “zombie studies” and label campuses “socialism factories.”
But they aredoing far more than just lambasting universities and colleges for perceived liberal bias.
DeSantis and Florida Republicans, in an endeavor to reshape the state’s 40 schools and universities, mounted GOP allies in major college posts and pushed laws that could adjust tenure, limit how college professors can train lessons on race and even how Florida increased education and learning institutions are accredited.
