While the private sector is now luring some would-be state workers away from government jobs, working for the state of North Carolina has traditionally been defined by job stability, plus competitive benefits and pay.

The News & Observer previously reported that there was a 20% vacancy rate among state government jobs — meaning there are lots of opportunities if you’re looking for a new gig.

Deputy Chief Medical Director at Central Regional Hospital

Job title: Deputy Chief Medical Director

Job location: Central Regional Hospital in Butner, Granville County

Job description: The deputy chief medical officer (DMCO) will work “directly with the Chief Medical Officer, overseeing the organization, planning and delivery of psychiatric/clinical care” provided at Central Regional Hospital, among other tasks. Job location: Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, Wayne County
