College Committee claims no to open documents request

Slide RIVER — The Fall River College Committee declined a request for general public data relating to notices relevant to pending litigation that may be associated with allegations that Superintendent Matthew Malone harrassed associates of the university department personnel.

In response to these complaints the University Committee voted to amed his agreement, docking him a month’s fork out. The amended contract also give the College Committee the capability to fire Malone without trigger and refer him to a professional medical experienced.

The University Committee’s reaction of refusal came in a letter by email on Wednesday after The Herald News filed the information and facts request. By law, any potential litigant should deliver notice to a municipality of intent to file a lawsuit.

Fall River School Superintendent Matt Malone, seen in this file photo, confirmed the school system is dealing with three new cases of COVID-19.

The University Committee’s reaction confirmed there is an current lawsuit notification in the past calendar year, but because the issue was discussed in executive session, the launch of the information is exempt.

The reaction also implies that for the reason that the notice documents regard complaints from Fall River Public Colleges staff, ”it cannot be launched because of a “privacy exemption,” below Massachusetts standard legislation.
